Aloe vera, known as 庫拉索蘆薈, is a versatile succulent plant renowned for its numerous health benefits and therapeutic properties. It is a popular choice for both indoor and outdoor cultivation due to its low maintenance requirements and aesthetic appeal.

Belonging to the family Asphodelaceae and the genus Aloe, aloe vera is a perennial plant native to arid regions of North Africa. It is characterized by its rosette of thick, fleshy leaves that contain a gel-like substance with various medicinal properties.

Aloe vera thrives in warm temperatures ranging from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius. It is highly adaptable and can tolerate brief periods of colder temperatures, but prolonged exposure to frost or extreme cold can damage the plant.

In terms of sunlight requirements, aloe vera prefers bright, indirect light. It can withstand some direct sunlight, especially in the morning or late afternoon, but intense and prolonged exposure can lead to leaf scorching. Placing the plant near a south or west-facing window is ideal, ensuring it receives sufficient light without being exposed to harsh rays.

Watering frequency for aloe vera depends on environmental conditions and the plant's stage of growth. As a succulent, it stores water in its leaves, making it drought-tolerant. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, and then thoroughly water the plant until excess water drains out. During winter or dormancy, reduce watering frequency to prevent root rot.

Fertilizing aloe vera is necessary but should be done sparingly. Apply a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer specifically formulated for succulents and cacti during the growing season (spring and summer) at half the recommended strength. Avoid over-fertilization, as it can lead to weak growth and damage the plant.

Pruning aloe vera mainly involves removing dead or damaged leaves. Trim them at the base using clean, sharp scissors or a knife. Pruning can also be done to thin out crowded rosettes or control the plant's size.

Other considerations include providing well-draining soil, avoiding overwatering, and protecting the plant from extreme temperature fluctuations. Aloe vera is also sensitive to root rot, so it is crucial to use a well-draining potting mix and avoid waterlogged conditions.
